Kellie Hush gives her verdict on the red-carpet fashions. To misquote Humphrey Bogart: "Play it again, Sam." Yes, there was plenty of razzle-dazzle, old-Hollywood gowns on the Oscar red carpet but all that perfection left few surprises. Cameron Diaz was stunning in her glittering Oscar de la Renta gown and priceless Cartier jewels. Ditto Kate Winslet in simple yet chic Atelier Yves Saint Laurent and big wow-factor Tiffany & Co. jewels . Avatar's Zoe Saldana took a risk with her straight-from-the-runway couture gown from Givenchy. Did it pay off? Not so sure. Hollywood It girls and Oscar nominees Carey Mulligan (in Prada) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (in Dries Van Noten) were winners in the fashion stakes even though they didn't take an Oscar home.
