"GENTLY and slowly remove her stylish black and gold gown to experience Syn in all her splendour . . . but be careful, she is known to explode in exhilarating throes of passion!"

No, it's not a passage from a bodice-ripping yarn but part of a wine PR blurb.

"Looking for the ultimate companion for that Synful evening?" it asks, going on to declare, "Syn is a timeless beauty with her perfect blend of youthful vitality and mature, complex sophistication. Enjoy her now in all her glory and try her with anything your heart desires but definitely try her from somebody's navel!"

Syn, it emerges, is a sparkling wine, the Leconfield Non-Vintage Syn Cuvee Blanc, based on a blend of McLaren Vale and Coonawarra chardonnay, pinot noir, rousanne and marsanne grapes.
